Top 5 Players of the 1967 Stanley Cup Finals
By Zane Miller On Tuesday, May 2nd, 1967, the Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Montreal Canadiens at the Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto to win the 54th Stanley Cup Finals four games to two. It was the 13th (and, as of this writing, most recent) Stanley Cup championship for the Maple Leafs franchise, and the 18th that was won in Ontario. These are the top five players that I felt most stood out during the series. 5. #4 Jean Beliveau (Canadiens)- F Beliveau was player of the game in game four, earning two goals as the Canadiens went on to win 6-2. 4. #16 Henri Richard (Canadiens)- F Richard earned player of the game in game one, getting a hat trick with three goals and an assist as the Canadiens took it 6-2. 3. #14 Dave Keon (Maple Leafs)- F Keon claimed player of the game honors in game five, getting a goal and an assist in the Maple Leafs’ 4-1 win. 2. #12 Pete Stemkowski (Maple Leafs)- F Stemkowski got player of the game in game two, as he picked up a goal and an assist to help the Maple Leafs to the 3-0 victory. 1. #18 Jim Pappin (Maple Leafs)- F Pappin had player of the game honors in games three and six, as game three saw him add a goal and two assists, while game six had him get another goal as the Maple Leafs won it 3-1 to seal the series victory.
